Transmetrics in partnership with Ahlers organized its second annual conference about innovations in logistics which took place at Vlerick Business School in Brussels, Belgium and was sponsored by McKinsey & Company. This year the topic of the conference focused on “Big Data in Logistics: Forecasting, Optimization and Planning”.
The conference gathered 50+ high-level professionals from all across the supply chain including participants from P&G, DHL, Amazon, Cargill, Lufthansa and other companies. The main goals of the conference were to gather senior supply chain executives from both shippers and logistics service providers, to share different perspectives of using Big Data in logistics and to discuss the best practices. The conference was invitation-only and it provided an exclusive meeting and networking place for supply chain innovators.
The conference was moderated by Robert Boute, Associate Professor Operations Management at Vlerick Business School, and featured 4 keynote presentations:
- – “NXP: from forecasting & demand sensing towards Big Data” – Evelien Klein, Director Global Demand Management at NXP Semiconductors
- – “Leveraging Data – A CFO’s perspective” – Jim Fredholm, CFO at Agility Global Integrated Logistics
- – “Improving air cargo through data intelligence” – Alban François, Vice President Cargo at Brussels Airlines
- – “Demand Forecasting and Optimization at DPD Bulgaria, Case Study” – Alex Petkov, Director of Operations at Speedy & Asparuh Koev, CEO at Transmetrics
The keynotes were followed by an interactive panel discussion which provided both speakers and the audience with an opportunity to discuss additional aspects of Big Data in Logistics. The conference concluded with a dinner reception, during which the participants had a chance to network with other supply chain executives as well as to discuss the topic in an informal atmosphere.
