Business Controller

YOUR JOB WILL BE TO:

– Perform business and financial reporting of Transmetrics.

– Create visibility into the organization’s economic and financial performance, at all levels – corporate, team and individual.

– Ensure that all key processes and work assignment are documented.

– Track and report the financial and operational results of the company.

– Perform financial and activity analysis and align overall business plans with KPI at individual and team level.

– Work as partner with the accounting firm (external), and play a key role in supporting them. Such support may come in many activities, from primary processing of accounting and payment documents, to monitoring budget performance, to ensuring strategic alignment and reconciliation of accounts between business and financial reporting.

– Serve as an adviser for the business leadership.

– Develop business and financial recommendations, provide budget feedback, and assist leadership in key financial decisions, meaning that they play an important role in the company’s success and economic growth.

– You are the primary responsible for the data quality of all corporate reporting data, and ensure that all that Transmetrics is doing is recorded and that records corresponds to the reality. This covers both financial and operational / activity data.

– Assist the sales team in performing economic and sales forecasting, analyzing our sales and marketing performance, and managing financial data related to sales. This financial analysis comes together to assist the company in decision-making on pricing and sales strategy.

– After completing financial analysis, you are responsible for reporting findings and working with executive staff to make financial decisions. This can involve completing regular financial reviews and delivering accurate financial reports, executing sales reports and developing and giving presentations.

– Finally, for the short term, you will be assigned as an administrator for the various cloud IT solutions the company uses – Jira, Pipedrive, Trello, Google, and will be responsible for creating users, roles and managing permissions to these systems.

WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

– Strong quantitative abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills in English (absolutely fluent spoken and written English is required).

– Strategic, analytical thinker, driven by results and able to identify the root causes for poor performance and reach solutions together with each individual manager.

– A bit of an IT geek, happy to dig into the particulars of IT systems and to find the right way to extract, structure and integrate data.

– Both the ability and the passion to handle, integrate and process large quantities of data using a variety of tools (at minimum Excel, but maybe also others – R, Python, etc.) to deliver insights.

– Passion for data and analytics, which is shared among all people working at Transmetrics.

– Formal education in finance and accounting – both financial and managerial accounting should be included. Relevant education (if possible, international) and some hands-on experience. Desire to invest in your further education, e.g. by signing up for an ACCA or CBC or a similar accreditation.

– Readiness to work in a startup company and for a job with a very large scope and a diversity of tasks at different levels of responsibility, to report to the CEO directly, yet at the same time will have no one reporting to you. The candidate’s responsibilities will range from the intensely strategic (board reporting, KPIs) to the deeply mundane (going over time sheets and recording expenses). The role can grow a lot as the company grows, depending on the candidate’s ability to take on other management and financial responsibilities.

Additionally, some things that we will be looking for during the interview include:

– Showing extensive finance or accounting experience.
– Demonstrating management skills.
– Being proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
– Obtaining financial modeling experience.
– Advanced skills: While most employers did not require the following skills, multiple job listings included them as preferred. Add these to your Business Controller toolbox and broaden your career options.
